Roman Emperor Diocletian coin replica (copy) necklace, cast from a museum quality coin in 925 Sterling silver and plated with a thick 24K Gold (vermeil) layer.
This two sided (reversibe) medallion features a replica coin from the time of Emperor Diocletian.
One side shows the profile of Diocletian, who was a Roman emperor from 284 to 305. Born to a family of low status in Dalmatia, Diocletian rose through the ranks of the military to become a cavalry commander of the Emperor Carus's army. After the deaths of Carus and his son Numerian on campaign in Persia, Diocletian was proclaimed emperor.
Diocletian's reign stabilized the empire and marks the end of the Crisis of the Third Century.
Reverse side shows Jupiter standing left, holding sceptre and thunderbolt.
